Important Call to Action by Dr. Lora Chamberlain!!!

Hello to all,

Thanks to all of you making those phone calls to Congress!!! PLEASE KEEP IT UP FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS-WE MAY BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE COURSE OF HISTORY WITH THESE CALLS, SO PLEASE PUT OUT A FULL EFFORT, 20 CALLS A DAY IF POSSIBLE! Remember there are people who have died for our democracy all we are asking you to do is call for yours!
1-800-839-5276 to the Congressional Operator!!!!

I want to report that your calls are working. Many Senators are now actively following all the issues. The new senators Obama and Salazar will be starting to take messages at their new offices tomorrow, Dec 23rd so do not forget to call them. It is very important to call Senators DeWine and Voinovich, repugs from Ohio. Go to http://Democrats.com/Senator to see others updates on the Senators but keep sending your reports to me drlora@ameritech.net , please, so I can put the feedback on that site.

After you have finished with the Senators list, we are asking that you start down the Representatives, the Black Caucus is on board fully. They will be writing the challenge so you can call them and just thank them and then move on down the list. We need to put pressure on Ohio Reps Marcy Kaptur, Sherrod Brown, Kucinich. Go to www.house.gov and just start down the list of Reps. We have to call both Dems and Repugs. Remember 1-899-839-5276 to the Congressional Operator.

From Selma to Palm Beach to Columbus January 3, 2005 - Every Vote Counts / Count Every Vote!
Defend Democracy Rally Washington, DC January 6, 2005
At times history and fate meet at a single time in a single place to shape a turning point in man's unending search for freedom. So it was at Lexington and Concord. So it was a century ago at Appomattox. So it was last week in Selma, Alabama. There is no Negro problem. There is no southern problem. There is no northern problem. There is only an American problem. Many of the issues of civil rights are very complex and most difficult. But about this there can and should be no argument. Every American citizen must have the right to vote...Yet the harsh fact is that in many places in this country men and women are kept from voting simply because they are Negroes... No law that we now have on the books...can insure the right to vote when local officials are determined to deny it... There is no Constitutional issue here.

The command of the Constitution is plain. There is no moral issue. It is wrong--deadly wrong--to deny any of your fellow Americans the right to vote in this country. There is no issue of States' rights or National rights. There is only the struggle for human rights.
